ইনোভেশন, প্রজেক্ট প্রদর্শনী, হ্যাকাথন, ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং ইনোভেশন, র‌্যালি, সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানসহ নানা আয়োজনের মধ্য দিয়ে ড্যাফোডিল পলিটেকনিকের শিক্ষার্থীদের নিয়ে উৎযাপন করা হয় World Engineering Day-2023.  এসএমই ফাউন্ডেশনের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক, ডঃ মোঃ মফিজুর রহমান প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত থেকে শিক্ষার্থীদের উদ্যোক্তা হতে উৎসাহিত করেন। বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ড্যাফোডিল ফ্যামিলির সিইও জনাব মোহাম্মদ নুরুজ্জামান, ড্যাফোডিল পলিটেকনিক ইন্সটিটিউটের অধ্যক্ষ জনাব কে এম হাসান রিপন। এছাড়াও উপস্থিত ছিলেন ড্যাফোডিল পলিটেকনিকের বিভাগীয় প্রধানগণ, শিক্ষক-শিক্ষিকা এবং ছাত্র-ছাত্রীবৃন্দ।

A delegation of 20 diploma engineering students from Daffodil Polytechnic in Bangladesh recently concluded a 10-day trip to India as part of an initiative to develop skilled engineers. The students participated in the International Volunteer & Internship Program (IVIP) at Kalinga Institute of Social Science (KISS) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, where they were welcomed with a special program that included a traditional dance performance. The students participated in a volunteer training program, working with teams at KISS in academics, research, sports, and culture. The students also participated in sessions on Bio Fertilizers, climate change and marked UNESCO’s International Military Year-2023 with idea-generating sessions. On the final day, the students received certificates from Dr. Achutya Samantha, Founder of KIIT and KISS, marking a significant accomplishment in their education. The Memories A group of 20 diploma engineering students from Daffodil Polytechnic in Bangladesh recently returned from a 10-day trip to India, where they took part in the International Volunteer & Internship Program (IVIP) at Kalinga Institute of Social Science (KISS) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha from January 15th to 22nd, 2023. The students were welcomed with open arms by KISS University, with a special program that included a traditional dance performance on the KISS campus. They then joined teams at KISS to participate in a volunteer training program, engaging in areas such as academics, research, sports, and culture.

The trip was an opportunity for the students to expand their knowledge and skills. They participated in a session on Bio Fertilizers, where they learned about the benefits and applications of this important agricultural technique. They also marked UNESCO’s International Military Year-2023 by showcasing posters and participating in idea- generating sessions with students from KISS and other universities from around the world.

The students visited the large-scale kitchen of KISS, observing the technological steam cooking process and learning about the latest technology. They also attended a session on the impact of climate change, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the subject. On the final day of the program, Dr. Achutya Samantha, Founder of KIIT and KISS, presented certificates to the students, marking a significant accomplishment for their diploma engineering education. In addition to their volunteer work, the students also explored the local culture and history by visiting the Adivasi Museum in Odisha, Konark Sun Temple, and observing the cultural heritages of Kolkata.

Daffodil Polytechnic Institute: A Modern Approach to Technical Education

Unemployment is a major social problem in Bangladesh, and technical education is the key to overcoming it. Daffodil Polytechnic Institute is working towards this goal by providing quality technical education to the youth of the country. These include state-of-the-art facilities, such as modern and spacious labs for each department, so that students can practice creativity, a ‘One Student One Laptop’ project to help students to be innovative, and a ‘Job Placement Cell’ to ensure internships and jobs for the students. The institute also encourages students to develop themselves as entrepreneurs through its “Entrepreneurship Development Cell”

One of the institute’s alumni shared that the institute also provides government monthly stipends, free books, merit scholarships, and special scholarships for female students. The institute also offers a ‘Student Guardian Life Insurance’ to ensure risk-free Diploma Engineering education and after completion, students get the opportunity to study at the ‘Daffodil International University’ for higher education with financial benefits.

Apart from the traditional educational system, the institute conducts three courses under the supervision of experienced teaching staff with the aim of acquiring exceptional education to position the students in the current competitive job market. The three courses are Art of Living, Business English, and Employability Skills.

Daffodil Polytechnic also established two different centers for student development, including the Inclusive Learning Cell so that everyone gets an equal learning opportunity, and the Innovation Cell to enhance students’ critical thinking. The institute also conducts regular project fairs where students share their creative project ideas and regular industry visits. Global Experience: Daffodil Polytechnic students learn and volunteering in India

A delegation of 20 students from Daffodil Polytechnic in Bangladesh embarked on a 10-day visit to India as part of an initiative to develop skilled Diploma Engineers. The students are participating in the International Volunteer & Internship Program (IVIP) at Kalinga Institute of Social Science (KISS) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha from January 15th to 22nd, 2023.

The students will engage in a volunteer training program organized by KIIT University as part of the IVIP, working with teams at KISS in the areas of academics, research, sports, and culture. Prior to their arrival, the students of KIIT University welcomed the Daffodil Polytechnic students with a special program that included a dance performance on their campus.

The students also participated in a session on Bio Fertilizers, gaining specialized knowledge about the benefits and various applications of this important agricultural technique. To celebrate UNESCO’s International Military Year-2023, the students, along with their peers from KISS and UMAP from various countries, showcased posters at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences and participated in sessions on the Military Year theme.

This international tour provides a valuable opportunity for the diploma engineering students to explore higher education options. On the third day of the trip, the students visited the large-scale kitchen of KISS, where they observed the technological steam cooking process and learned about the latest technology. They also participated in a session on the impact of climate change, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the subject.

On the final day of the program, Mr. Achutya Samantha, Founder of KIIT and KISS, led a session on participation in the IVIP and presented certificates to the students, marking a significant accomplishment for the diploma engineering students.

In addition to volunteering, the students also visited the Tribal Museum in Odisha, which provided them with an understanding of the history and culture of the region. They were accompanied by the Honorable Deputy Director of Daffodil Polytechnic, Mr. KM Parvez Bobby, and the Honorable Vice Principal of Daffodil Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mr. Abdul Hakeem.

দক্ষ ডিপ্লোমা ইঞ্জিনিয়ার গড়ার লক্ষ্যে নিয়মিত কার্যক্রমের অংশ হিসেবে Daffodil Polytechnic Institute এর ২০ জন শিক্ষার্থীর একটি প্রতিনিধি দল ১০ দিনের ভারত সফরে যান । তারা Kalinga Institute of Social Science, India তে International Volunteer & Internship Program(IVIP) এর অধীনে ১৫-২২ জানুয়ারী ২০২৩ ভারতের ভুবনেশ্বর, ওড়িশা, পরিদর্শন করে।  

ইতোমধ্যে শিক্ষার্থীরা International Volunteer & Internship Program (IVIP) এর অধীনে KIIT  বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কর্তৃক আয়োজিত একটি স্বেচ্ছাসেবক প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মসূচিতে যোগদান করে। যেখানে, শিক্ষার্থীরা KISS-এ শিক্ষা, গবেষণা, ক্রীড়া ও সাংস্কৃতিক দলের সাথে কাজ করে। এর আগে  KIIT বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এর শিক্ষার্থীরা নৃত্য পরিবেশনসহ বিশেষ আয়োজনের মাধ্যমে তাদের ক্যাম্পাসে ড্যাফোডিল পলিটেকনিকের শিক্ষার্থীদের অভিনন্দন জানায়। পরবর্তীতে শিক্ষার্থীরা বায়ো ফার্টিলাইজারের উপর একটি অধিবেশনে যোগদান করে, যেখানে তারা জৈবসারের মূল্য এবং বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে এর গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যবহার সম্পর্কে বিশেষ জ্ঞান অর্জন করে। এছাড়াও ইউনেস্কোর ইন্টারন্যশনাল মিলিট ইয়ার-২০২৩ উপলক্ষ্যে আমাদের শিক্ষার্থীরা KISS শিক্ষার্থীসহ বিভিন্ন দেশের UMAP শিক্ষার্থীদের  সাথে ভারতের কলিঙ্গা ইনস্টিটিউট অফ সোশ্যাল সায়েন্সে পোস্টার উপস্থাপন করেন ও মিলিট ইয়ার এর উপর সেশনে অংশগ্রহণ করে।

এই উপলক্ষে ডিপ্লোমা ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং-এর শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য উচ্চতর পড়াশোনা নিশ্চিত করার লক্ষ্যে এটি একটি বড় সুযোগ। আন্তর্জাতিক এই সফরের ৩য় দিনে, শিক্ষার্থীরা প্রযুক্তির ব্যবহারের মাধ্যমে  বৈজ্ঞানিকভাবে বাষ্পে রান্নার প্রক্রিয়া দেখতে KISS-এর মেগা কিচেন  পরিদর্শন করে ও নতুন প্রযুক্তি সম্পর্কে জ্ঞান আহরণ করে। পাশাপাশি শিক্ষার্থীরা জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন এবং এর প্রভাবের উপর একটি অধিবেশনে অংশ নেয়। যার ফলে  জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন সম্পর্কে সমস্ত খুঁটিনাটি বিষয়ে তারা জ্ঞান অর্জন করে।

সেশনের শেষ দিন ড. অচিন্তা সামান্তা, প্রতিষ্ঠাতা, KIIT এবং KISS ড্যাফোডিল পলিটেকনিকের পুরো টিমকে  (IVIP) প্রোগ্রামে অংশগ্রহণের উপর একটি সেশন নিয়ে থাকেন এবং শিক্ষার্থীদের সনদ প্রদান করেন। ডিপ্লোমা ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং-এর শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য এটি একটি বড় অর্জন। ভলেন্টিয়ারি কার্যক্রমে অংশগ্রহণের পাশাপাশি শিক্ষার্থীরা ওড়িশার আদিবাসী মিউজিয়াম ভ্রমণ করেন, যা তাদের ওড়িশার এতিহ্য ও সংস্কৃতি সম্পর্কে ধারনা প্রদান করে। পুরো সফরে শিক্ষার্থীদের সাথে ছিলেন ড্যাফোডিল পলিটেকনিকের সম্মানিত ডেপুটি ডিরেক্টর জনাব কে এম পারভেজ ববি এবং ড্যাফোডিল ইন্সিটিউট অব ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং এন্ড টেকনোলজির সম্মানিত ভাইস প্রিন্সিপাল জনাব আব্দুল হাকিম।

“Internship Fest-2022 Organized at Daffodil Polytechnic to ensure Internship of Diploma Engineers”

On October 16, 2022, for the 5th time Daffodil Polytechnic Institute organized Internship Fest 2022. Basically, this fest is organized to ensure the internship of the eighth Semester students of four years Diploma Engineering. Reputed 40 companies of the country participated directly in the fest with internship and job opportunities for diploma engineers and a total of 500 students of public and private polytechnics of the country including Daffodil Polytechnic participated in the direct interview through the internship fest.

The Opening Ceremony of the Internship Fest 2022 was held in auditorium 71 of Daffodil Tower 5, Sobahan Bagh, Dhanmondi this morning. Dr. Md. Omar Faruque, Director General, DTE was present as the chief guest. Mr. Mosharraf Hossain, President, FBHRO, and Mr. Debashish Roy, National Project Manager, Futurenation, UNDP were present as special guests in the event and Mohammad Nuruzzaman (CEO, Daffodil Family) presided over the event.

Besides the day-long interview session, students are also given the opportunity to participate in industry academia talks, Career counseling and quiz competitions. Through this program, under one roof students get an opportunity to interview in multiple organizations at the same time, and several students are able to secure their internships. As a result of the arrangement of Internship Fest both employers and students benefited a lot.

The Baitur Rauf Mosque is a distinctive urban mosque located in an economically-challenged area of DhakaBangladesh. Designed by Bangladeshi architect Marina Tabassum and completed in 2012, it has been called a refuge of spirituality in urban Dhaka and received recognition for its beautiful use of natural light and for challenging the status quo of traditional mosque design. Instead of traditional symbolism such as domes and minarets, the mosque relies on open space and the rich interplay of light and shadow to create a prayer space that elevates the spirit.

Bangladesh’s rich mosque-building history dates back to the 13th century’s Turkish invasion. The earliest mosques incorporated elements from local building traditions, such as small domes that span the roof and brick walls. The architect combined this unique traditional Sultanate mosque architecture with a modern approach to create a design that challenges the status quo.

The building is located in a flood-prone area, and is designed along an axis angled 13 degrees to the Qibla direction. To compensate for this angle, the building is raised on a plinth with a cylinder inside of a square. This allowed the designer to rotate the prayer hall to the correct direction and created light courts on four sides with room for other functions.

The mosque’s prayer hall has no columns inside, instead relying on eight peripheral columns for support. Dozens of random, circular openings in the ceiling and walls allow natural light to enter the building, creating shifting patterns of light and shadow to enhance the spiritual atmosphere.

The small-footprint, one-storey building has no domesminarets, or decorative panels, and fits in with its surroundings. Handmade terracotta brick walls, provide natural ventilation, helping keep the building cool even on hot days. 

Without using the usual mosque symbolism, the architect created a space of spirituality with simplicity and the use of natural light prompting deep reflection and contemplation in prayer.
